Description of the business
Lere’s Shoe Shine Experience is a 100% Youth owned enterprise which provides shoeshine services to passengers and personnel passing through Cape Town International Airport (CTIA), Johannesburg International, East London Airport, George Airport and Durban International Airport. Lere’s Shoe Shine core business is to service, the client’s shoes which is completed in a timeframe of five minutes.

History of the business
Lere identified the Shoe Shine opportunity, after a string of unsuccessful and costly business ventures. He saw a person in Green Market Square cleaning and shining shoes and realized the opportunity would be best suited at Cape Town International Airport. He applied for a concession with the airport and subsequent to that, purchased two chairs.

Lere’s Shoeshine started on October 2, 2003. Within one year of trading, they have managed to shine more than 13 473 pairs of shoes. Lere’s shoeshine core business is not only shining shoes, but to create an atmosphere where clients can feel relaxed enough to converse in light conversion with the staff. We are currently have 5 stations (Cape Town, O R Tambo, East London Airport, George Airport and Durban) and do just over 110 000 pairs of shoes annually. We have planned to expand to, PLZ, KIM and BFN and expansion would be complete by November..
